Richard William Jones, Jr., age 79, affectionately known as Rick, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Born on April 11, 1947, in Wilkes County, Rick lived a full and dedicated life marked by service, passion, and commitment to both family and community.

Rick began his professional journey in the automotive world, initially working at Steve White Automotives. He later advanced his career at Tom Brooks Chevrolet before dedicating 27 and a half years to serving Catawba County as a fleet and service supervisor. Following his retirement, Rick channeled his love of cars into selling Chevrolet Camaro and Nova parts, where he earned the well-deserved nickname "The Carburetor Guy."

Beyond his professional life, Rick was deeply involved in his community and cherished roles. He was a Boy Scout Master and Cub Scout Leader, guiding and mentoring youth with patience and encouragement. In 2013, he successfully completed the Hot Rod Power Tour, exemplifying his enduring passion for automobiles. He was also an active member of the Foothills Corvette Club, further reflecting his lifelong enthusiasm for classic cars.

Rick was a devoted member of Little River Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and spiritual nourishment throughout his life.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Brenda Jones, who stood steadfastly by his side through all of life’s seasons. Rick's legacy lives on through his son, Micheal Jones, and daughter-in-law, Cristy, along with their children, Jordan and Ashlynn Jones, his cherished grandchildren who brought great joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard William Jones, Sr. and Alta Sebastian Jones, as well as his sister, Cathy Jones Bilbo.

A visitation to honor and remember Rick will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Little River Baptist Church located at 2070 Little River Church Road in Township of Taylorsville, North Carolina. This will be followed by his funeral service from 4:30 p.m. at the same location. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Lathan Peterson will officiate. Jimmy and Josh Johnson, Joe Auton, Eric Ferguson, Doug Shambley, and Kelvin Elder will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Wilson and Eddy Deitz.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Foothills Corvette Club c/o Prisilla Norris, 280 Windy Drive, Boone, NC 28607.

Rick’s life was one of dedication, kindness, and passion. He leaves behind a legacy as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend—a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he served so well.
