Rickey Arnaz Lafon

Rickey Arnaz Lafon, age 67, of Taylorsville, passed away on September 16, 2026, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Catawba County. He was born on August 9, 1959, in Alexander County.

Rickey will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and man of faith whose life was deeply rooted in family, church, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He was an upholsterer at Craftmaster, and he also served as Associate Pastor at Jesus Life Worship Center, where his faith and dedication touched many lives.

He found joy in reading, crocheting, writing, playing music, and singing with the Lafon Family Gospel Group. He was also a big Tarheel and Indianapolis Colt fan. Above all, Rickey loved his family and cherished spending time with them, making memories that meant the most to him, especially with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Lafon, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage and a lasting love. He also leaves behind his sons, Corey Lafon, Justin Lafon and his fiancé, Deanna, and Jordan Lafon and his wife, Heather. His memory will live on in his six beautiful granddaughters, Brooklyn, Isabella, Rowyn, Ryleigh, Evie, and Mia, who brought him great pride and joy. Rickey is also survived by his brothers, Danny Lafon and his wife, Cindy, and Robert Lafon and his wife, Robin; his sister, Brenda Connolly; his beloved dog, Caroline, and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Lafon; his mother, Lillian Lafon; and his sister, Louise Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service. Pastor James Lewis will officiate. Inurnment will be with the family.

The family will accept flowers.

Rickey’s life was marked by love, faith, music, and devotion to those closest to him. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
