Robert Lee Connolly, age 85, a member of Carson Chapel and cherished family man, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2026, in Alexander County, North Carolina. Born on September 10, 1940, in Alexander County, Robert dedicated much of his working career to crafting samples for Daniels Woodcarving, showcasing his skill and dedication to his trade.
Robert was a man of many interests who found joy in riding around, fishing, woodworking, and sharing meals at local eateries. Above all, he deeply loved his family and treasured every moment spent in their company. His warm spirit and commitment to those he cared about left an indelible impression on all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Ann Teague (Joseph); his son, Rodney Connolly, as well as his stepchildren, Lisa Rogers (Rodney) and Stacy Hughes (Lela). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Shaun Connolly, Jason Connolly, Jonathon Hughes, Erin Teague, Krista Cleary, Megan Sparks, Gunnar Rogers, Tanner Hughes, and great-grandchildren, Isaac, Chloe Ann, Elizabeth, Bethany, Ryleigh, Hagen, Harper, Boone, and Oakley. Additionally, he is survived by siblings Charlie Connolly (Linda), Kathleen Gwaltney (Richard), and Lucille Bond, along with several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William "Dock" Featherstone Connolly and Dolly Gregory Connolly; his beloved wife, Margaret Connolly; brothers John Connolly and Donald Connolly; and sister Linda Foster.
The family will honor Robert’s life with a visitation on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m., both to be held at Carson Chapel, located at 1551 Carson Chapel Rd, Taylorsville, North Carolina. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Jeff Carson will officiate. Sean Dishmon, Johnathan Pinson, Gunnar Rogers, Jonathon Hughes, Hagen Slaight, and Tanner Hughes will serve as pallbearers.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Carson Chapel Cemetery Fund.
Robert’s unwavering love for his family, his craftsmanship, and his gentle nature will be dearly missed. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
