Roger Clyde Pennell, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at his home on March 7, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on April 25, 1961, in Alexander County, North Carolina, Roger made his mark in the furniture industry as a dedicated framer, showcasing not only his skills but also his unwavering commitment to his work.
Roger was a family man at heart, cherishing every moment he spent with his loved ones. He took great joy in the company of his daughter, Jessica Brooks, and together they created lasting memories. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Travis and Alexis Brooks, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life. In addition to his immediate family, Roger is survived by his brother, Michael Pennell (Julie), and sisters Faye Hamby (Ronnie) and Jeannie Godfrey. His legacy will continue through the many nieces and nephews who were fortunate to know him.
Roger's life was marked by a love of nature and the outdoors; he often found solace and enjoyment while hunting and fishing. These passions reflected his easy-going personality and his deep appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Roger's warm spirit and loving nature touched the lives of many, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry C. Pennell and Nora Hubbard Issacs, whose absence he carried with him throughout his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Roger's honor at Victory Independent Fundamental Missionary Baptist Church located at 5096 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681, on Saturday March 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm. Pastor Phillip Coffey will officiate
