Roy Lee Smith

Roy Lee Smith, age 73, of 172 RE Johnson Lane Hiddenite N.C. departed this life at 2:30 pm March 13, 2026, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville, N.C. He was born in Alexander County to the late Dewey Commodore and Mary Lou Davis Smith of Hiddenite N.C.

He was formerly employed with DOT State Department, a truck driver, Lewittes Furniture, Holly Farm, Claremont Motor Line, and G.E.

He was a valuable member of the Smith Grove Baptist Church as a janitor, choir member on to a self-taught key board player. He was a faithful member until his health declined. He was also a member of the Ambassador for Christ as a bass guitar player of the Carolinas, also the Mighty Pilgrim Aires of Cleveland, N.C.

Roy will be long remembered for his outgoing, fun-filled, and optimistic spirit.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his sisters Clara Smith, Mary Neil Smith; his brothers Javis Smith, John Paul Smith; and niece Cathy Smith.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother Ken Smith, sister Sylvia Flowers, a host of nieces, nephews, and a special nephew that was like a son Daniel Smith.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Smith Grove Baptist Church from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The funeral service will be Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Smith Grove Baptist Church at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Frank Linney and Pastor William Little will officiate.

The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Smith Grove Baptist Church, 160 Smith Grove Church Road, Hiddenite, NC 28636.
