Ruby Jean Teague, age 87, entered her heavenly home on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Valley Nursing Center in Alexander County. She was born on Saturday, October 16, 1937, in Alexander County — the place she proudly called home throughout her life.
Ruby’s life was one of deep love, unwavering faith, and joyful spirit. A devoted member of Smyrna Baptist Church, her faith was her foundation, guiding her every step and filling her life with purpose and grace. Ruby’s presence radiated warmth. She had a joyful, vibrant personality that brought light to every room she entered and kindness to every life she touched.
She cherished the simple pleasures in life — cheering at ball games, relaxing by the ocean, watching her favorite TV shows, and baking sweet treats that her family adored. Whether through a perfectly baked dessert or a heartfelt conversation, Ruby found joy in caring for others, and it showed in everything she did.
Her greatest pride was her family, whose lives she enriched beyond measure. She is survived by her son, Faron Teague, and his wife, Karen; her grandchildren, Calvin Teague (wife, Amanda) and Lauren Davis (husband, Nathan); and her great-grandchildren, Huntley and Nora Teague and Kensley and Jaxson Davis. Ruby is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Geraldine Teague, and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Everett Teague and Zettie Watts Teague, and her siblings: James Teague, Troy Teague, Mildred Fox, Rachel Gresham, Ruth Teague, and Elsie Bolick.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Smyrna Baptist Church, 6174 Church Road, Taylorsville, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 4:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Eddie Jolly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Alexander County or the Valley Nursing Center Activities Department, in honor of Ruby’s generous and joyful spirit.
Ruby Jean Teague’s legacy is one of faith, family, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
