Samuel Moses Fox

Samuel Moses Fox, a beloved man of faith, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on November 26, 1935, he was a gentle soul who lived a life rooted in simplicity, humility, and kindness.

A devout Christian, Samuel had a deep and abiding love for Jesus, which was evident in every aspect of his life. His unwavering faith and spiritual devotion served as an inspiration to all who knew him. He was a cherished member of Shiloh Lutheran Church, where he took great joy in teaching Sunday School until recently, serving on various committees throughout his lifetime, and regularly attending worship. He found solace in reading and understanding God’s Word.

Samuel had a big heart and a gentle demeanor, always ready with a kind word and a warm smile. He found peace and pleasure in the simple things, whether it was fishing at the river, tending to his garden, or reading the Bible. His basement was a place where he loved to tinker and create.

Music was another of his great loves, and he spent many happy hours listening to bluegrass tunes. Family gatherings at the river, complete with cookouts and horseshoe games, were among his favorite pastimes, creating memories that will be cherished forever by his loved ones. He delighted in simply being with family, listening to, and playing with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In his journey through life, Samuel was preceded in death by his parents Perry Monroe Fox and Rosa Lee Icenhour Fox, as well as his brothers Bob, Leon, and Frank Fox, along with his sister, Sarah Pennell.

Samuel’s 68-year marriage to Evelyn Davis Fox bloomed with a deep-seated companionship that stood the test of time. Together, they nurtured a beautiful family. He is survived by his sons, Jeramy Fox, Bryan Fox (Sandra), Phillip Fox (Karen), daughter Sharon Fox Benfield (Bradley), brothers Roger, David, Dean, Jake, Rick Fox, sisters Nancy Ritchie, and Estelle Canter. Samuel’s memory also lives on through a multitude of grandchildren-Daniel Benfield, Sarah McCall, Matthew Benfield, Angie Fox, Lauren Fox, Nathan Fox, Taylor Goble, Wendy Jowers, Bryan Fox, Amanda Fox-Duncan, Heather Busick and Alisha Fox. He also dearly loved his pet, Molly. Continuing his legacy are 29 great-grandchildren who will cherish memories of their beloved grandfather alongside one great-great grandchild on the way. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and gentleness that will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.

The visitation will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, in the Parish Hall at Shiloh Lutheran Church from 1:30 pm to 3:15 pm. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Samuel Moses Fox will take place on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Shiloh Lutheran church at 3:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Jason Sigmon will officiate.
