Samuel Everette Jenkins

Samuel Everette Jenkins, affectionately known as Sam, was born on September 8, 1935, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at Valley Nursing Center in Alexander County at the age of 90.

Sam was a man deeply devoted to his family and faith. He cherished the moments spent with loved ones and maintained a legacy of love and respect for those around him. While in high school Sam was offered a scholarship to play football at Lenoir Rhyne, showcasing his athletic prowess and commitment to excellence.

A lifelong member of Liledoun Baptist Church, Sam found great joy in teaching Sunday School and inspiring others through his faith. His dedication extended beyond the church community, as he was also a valued member of Gideons International, reflecting his commitment to spreading messages of hope and support.

In addition to his dedication to faith and family, Sam enjoyed fishing and watching sports, activities that brought him relaxation and joy. His warm spirit and engaging personality will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He is survived by his beloved son, David Jenkins (Debbie Yee); granddaughter, Alyeska Yee-Jenkins; special niece, Terri Jenkins; sister, Jane J. Frye (Gene); niece Sherri Lloyd (Billy), and nephews Scott Frye (Kim) and Byron Frye (Peggy).

Sam is preceded in death by his loving parents, Phifer and Daphne Childers Jenkins; his devoted wife, Virginia Jenkins; and brothers Billy Jenkins, Alvis Jenkins, and James "Jimmy" Jenkins.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm at Liledoun Baptist Church, located at 2628 Liledoun Road, Township of Taylorsville, NC 28681. The burial will be private. Rev. Jason Payne will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be given to Gideons International, P.O. Box 517, Taylorsville, NC 28681.

As we remember Sam, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love for his family, dedication to his faith, and a profound impact on the lives of those around him.
