Sandra Kay Ball Duke

Sandra Kay Ball Duke, age 64, passed away at her home in Alexander County on February 26, 2026. She was born on July 19, 1961, in Iredell County. Sandra's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her impactful work, particularly in the finishing department at Bassett.

Throughout her life, Sandra found joy and fulfillment in the love of her family, especially her grandchildren. Her legacy is carried on by her children, Kathy Mitchell (Mike), Billy Duke Jr. (Sandra), Tiffany Brantley, Josh Ball, and Brandi Duke, who will always remember her warmth and guidance. Sandra cherished her role as a grandmother to Brooke, Damion, Hunter, Tyler, Andrew, Camela, Willow, and Josh, as well as being a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren. Each of these relationships brought her immense joy and pride, reflecting her nurturing spirit and deep love for her family. She is also survived by her sister, Lola Jenkins.

Sandra was also a devoted member of Crestview Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the life of her congregation, contributing to the community she held dear.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Lee Ball and Frona Rebecca Powell Ball, her husband Billy Ray Duke Sr., her brother Larry Ball, as well as her sister Debbie Ball and brother-in-law Roger Jenkins.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be with the family.

As we remember Sandra, we celebrate not only her accomplishments but the profound impact she had on those around her. She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family, and unwavering spirit.
