Terry Gene Deal, age 67, born on October 8, 1958, in Catawba County, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at Robin Johnson Hospice House in Gaston County. Throughout his life, Terry touched the lives of many with his steady presence, skilled hands, and loving heart.

Terry was the proud owner and operator of his own construction company, dedicating himself to his craft with unwavering commitment. His natural talent for building and fixing things extended beyond his professional life—he was known among family and friends as someone who could create or repair just about anything. His love for working with his hands left a lasting mark on all those who admired his craftsmanship and resourcefulness.

Passionate about all things racing, Terry was an avid fan of NASCAR, and he found great joy in racing motocross himself. These pursuits not only gave him excitement but also moments of connection and camaraderie with those who shared his enthusiasm. Terry’s enjoyment of the sport was matched only by the pride he felt sharing it with his loved ones.

At the heart of Terry’s life was his family. He dearly loved watching his granddaughter play volleyball and spent many cherished hours sharing in the thrill of racing with his grandson. His devotion to his daughter was unwavering, and their close bond was a source of great comfort and happiness to him. Terry’s Christian faith guided him throughout his life, offering strength and peace to him and to those who knew him well.

Terry is survived by his beloved daughter, Tia Kelly (Kevin), and by his treasured grandchildren, Korbin Kelly and Kymber Kelly.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Agustus Deal; his mother, Shelbie Jean Killian Duckworth; and his sister, Christy Deal Hamby.

Terry’s wishes were for there to be no formal services, but instead for his family and friends to gather together for a cookout to celebrate his life and cherish his memory.

Terry will be remembered for his deep love of family, his remarkable skills, and his enduring faith. His legacy continues through those he loved most and in every life he touched.
