Tommy Alan Norton, beloved husband, dad, pawpaw, brother, and friend, passed away on January 28, 2026, at his home in Alexander County, North Carolina. Born on March 16, 1957, in Alexander County, Alan dedicated much of his life to his family and career, serving faithfully as a truck driver for Douglas & Sons.
Alan was a cherished member of the community and a devoted member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, where his kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. He had a deep love for his family, which was evident in everything he did.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Roxanne Norton, they created a warm and loving home together. His legacy continues through their children, Cassey Norton Benton (Terry) and Timmy Norton (Mandy), who carry forward his spirit and values. He cherished his role as a pawpaw to Olivia Benton and her fiancé Colby, Chesney Benton, Evie Daniels, Gemma Benton, Ollie Rae Norton, and Aubie Norton, proudly sharing in the joys of their lives. Alan is also survived by his brothers, Howard Norton (Martha) and Jimmy Norton, and his sisters, Barbie Darcy and Teresa Harrington (Rick). He also held a special place in his heart for his special nephew, Trey Norton, as well as his faithful canine companions, Panda and Mini.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joe Lynn Norton (Joann) and Willie Hazelene Keever.
In his spare time, Alan found joy in simple pleasures, such as camping at Bandits Roost, taking pride in his Peterbilt truck, and engaging in woodworking projects that showcased his creativity. He will be remembered not only for his dedication to his family but also for his warm spirit and zest for life.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, located at 2600 Old Mountain Rd, Hiddenite, NC 28636. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Brian Eades will officiate. Mason Frye, Trey Norton, Noah Johnson, Colby Cockrell, Nate Blakley, and Johnny Norton will serve as pallbearers.

Alan will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of love, hard work, and commitment to family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
