Wilbur Lex Tyndall, age 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Alexander County on July 20, 2026. He was born on January 31, 1959, in Jacksonville, Florida, and in the years that followed, built a life rich in love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Wilbur’s presence in the lives of his family and friends was steady and strong. He was a devoted husband for 30 years to Ivy Tyndall, and his love for his children was unwavering. He is survived by his children: Johnson Cone (Carla), Tammy Cone, Lee Pridgen, Pricilla Thomas, and Zubrina Aaron (Tim). Wilbur was a caring brother to David Tyndall and found joy in the company of his grandchildren: Jacob Cone, Colton Cone, Eric Jennings Jr., Carolyn Hendren, Niko House, Harley Thomas, Terra Bentley, Braven Bentley, Opie Bentley, Kihleesi Bentley, Lilly Aaron, and Aliana Aaron. His circle of friends included Roger Brown, whose friendship Wilbur valued.
He was preceded in death by his father Ed Tyndall, his mother Ollie Pate Tyndall, his late wife Carolyn Tyndall, his sister Shirley House, and his grandchild LaKoda House.
Wilbur dedicated much of his working life as a foreman at Asplundgh Tree Service. He enjoyed his work and took pride in what he accomplished each day.
Away from work, Wilbur delighted in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whose laughter and energy brought him endless happiness. Whether watching wrestling—a favorite pastime—or simply “piddling” around, Wilbur found contentment in the familiar rhythms of home and hobbies.
Those who knew Wilbur will remember his gentle humor, his steadfast support, and his genuine love for those close to him. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in kindness, hard work, and the bonds of family that endure beyond parting.
A Visitation and Celebration of Life will be held at the same time, providing an opportunity to share memories, offer condolences, and celebrate a cherished life together on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Alexander Funeral Service, located at 193 NC-16, Taylorsville, NC 28681. Family, friends, and all whose lives Wilbur touched are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for his life. Inurnment will be with the family.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to Amorem Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
Wilbur’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, honored by the stories shared and the lives enriched by his presence.
